Artificial Intelligence i.e. AI is no longer limited to just technology. Its impact is directly visible on people’s jobs and careers. The work which was earlier done by humans, is now being done by machines faster and at lower cost. For this reason, the discussion has intensified across the world that AI will completely change the job market in the coming times.

There was a time when it was believed that machines would only do factory or laborious work. But now those jobs which were considered secure are under threat. According to reports, many office tasks like data processing, report making, customer support and decision-making roles can be affected by AI. Experts are calling it like a tsunami for the job market.

Double challenge for India

AI is emerging as a double challenge for India. On one hand, a large number of youth in the country are looking for jobs, while on the other hand, companies are rapidly moving towards automation. Especially in the IT and ITES sector, which has been providing employment to millions of people till now, AI can bring the biggest change there. If preparations are not made in time, the risk of job cuts may increase.

Why are companies adopting AI

The biggest reason for companies to adopt AI is to reduce costs. Through AI, work is done faster, mistakes are reduced and expenses on employees are reduced. As AI becomes smarter, the need for humans for companies will reduce. This can have a direct impact on the number of jobs and employees.

role of government

Experts believe that if the government and companies work together to make the right strategy, the loss can be reduced to a great extent. Just creating new jobs is not enough. It is important to teach new skills to the existing employees, so that they can adapt themselves to the changing times. There will have to be a change in the method of education right from the school and college level.

IMF warning

IMF chief Kristalina Georgieva has also warned about AI. According to him, AI can affect up to 40 percent of jobs worldwide in the coming years. In developed countries this figure can go up to 60 percent. Although AI will be helpful in some jobs, entry level and middle level jobs will be most at risk.
