He has also threatened to impose a 10 percent tariff on imports from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, Britain, the Netherlands and Finland from February 1, unless the US gets permission to buy the Arctic islands.

Trump has also said publicly several times that he should be given the Nobel Peace Prize. However, the awarding committee had given this award to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, after which Trump also expressed disappointment. However, Machado has presented his award to Trump. The President of America has written a letter to the Prime Minister of Norway saying that he no longer thinks about peace because he did not receive the Nobel Peace Prize.

NATO is already under stress due to the Ukraine war as Trump had repeatedly questioned European countries regarding adequate spending on defense. His statements have also sparked protests in Greenland, as people reject the US attempt to establish sovereignty.
