If you or any child in your family studies in school, then this news is very important for you. NCERT has decided to make major changes in school education. This change is being made under the National Education Policy 2020. Its objective is to move children away from mere rote learning and give them education based on intelligence and skills.
NCERT has prepared new books for children from class 1 to 8. The good thing is that these books will now be available in both print and online, which will make it easier for children to read.
These new books have been made according to NCF 2023. Where earlier the focus was on memorization in studies, now emphasis will be given on understanding and thinking of the children. Now such topics and activities will be given in the books which will teach the children by connecting them with everyday life. With this, children will not consider studies as a burden, but will be able to learn in a fun way.
New syllabus for 9th class students from 2026-27
There is going to be a big change for the students of class 9 also. The new syllabus will be implemented from the session of 2026-27. Now its draft has been released and suggestions are being sought from teachers, experts and other people. The advantage of this will be that every important suggestion can be incorporated before finalizing the syllabus. That means the upcoming syllabus will be better and more useful than before. Teachers have also been asked to strengthen the basic education of children, so that there is no problem in understanding the new syllabus.
No change at present for class 10th and 11th students
If we talk about 10th and 11th, then students of these classes do not need to worry about any changes right now. In 2026-27, these children will study from old books only. However, NCERT has definitely said that new books will be brought for these classes also, but they will be applicable from the session 2027-28.

All these changes will be implemented gradually
NCERT will implement these changes gradually instead of changing everything at once. This means that there will be slight changes every year and there is a plan to implement the complete new system by 2028. This will give time to schools and teachers to understand the new method properly and children will not face any problems.
The way of studying will be completely different now
After these new changes, the method of education is going to change completely. Now children will not just need to memorize books, but they will have to understand things. More attention will be given to practical things. The thinking ability of children will be enhanced. The habit of asking questions and understanding will be inculcated. With this, children will be prepared not just for passing exams but for real life.
