After the new GST rates, there is going to be great relief in the expenses of studies in our life. Due to the recent GST reforms done by the central government, stationery items like copies, books, pencils, sharpeners, rubber will now become very cheap, because the tax on these has been completely abolished.
Now school children will not have to pay any kind of GST tax to get copy, notebook, exercise book, graph book, lab notebook, books, slate, chalk, blackboard and other stationery goods. Earlier these things were taxed up to 12%, due to which their price was increased. Now due to decrease in their price, the cost of education of children will also be reduced. This decision is the most beneficial for the parents of young children, because things like pencil, sharpener, rubber have to be purchased every month.
How many things were over?
Pencil, sharpener, crayon, pastel, rubber, maps, charts, globes, notebooks, practice books, drawing books, news, magazines, children’s color, slate, chalk, blackboard. All these things first used 12% or 5% GST, which is now zero.
Change on school fees too?
With this new change, government schools, college education, examination fees, coaching and scholarship services were already out of the scope of tax. That is, the cost of education will be reduced directly, there will be no tax on school fees. Yes, if someone takes a professional course or online coaching, then 18% tax will be applicable on it.
Common man got relief
After the new rates, shopping will also become cheaper. If earlier the globe was available for Rs 500 by adding 12% tax, now it will be about 446 rupees without tax. Parents will now get direct benefit in children’s school expenses. Children of poor sections will be able to buy book-copies because their prices will be reduced.
Which rates were applicable?
Earlier, 5%, 12%, 18% and 28% were four such tax slabs in the country. Now the government has changed it to only two rates – 5% and 18%. Slabs with 12% and 28% have been finished. This will provide the most relief in everyday things, along with the stationery of the school, domestic goods will be available on the simple tax.
How long will the new rates be implemented?
The government has announced that these new rates will be applicable from September 22. So if someone buys stationery goods from next month, they will not have to pay tax, which will make the purchase easier.
Why is it necessary for stationery to be cheaper?
With the end of tax on education and writing items, education will be easy for everyone. Poor children will no longer have difficulty in taking things like book-copy, pencil. This will help in continuing studies and the budget of parents will also be better.
