Delhi Capitals’ first match in IPL 2026 will be with Lucknow Super Giants on April 1. Delhi Capitals coach Hemang Badani told in the pre-season press conference that he is in constant touch with the Cricket Australia Board.
Will Starc play or not?
Actually, Mitchell Starc’s fitness remains a matter of concern for Delhi Capitals. CA has not given him fitness clearance, that is why there is a delay in getting his NOC. Coach Hemang Badani told that he is waiting to get NOC. As soon as the NOC is received, Starc will be able to play in IPL 2026.
The coach told that Starc had also practiced bowling a few days ago. But until the Australian Cricket Board gives them permission to play, Delhi Capitals franchise cannot do anything.
Australian bowlers in trouble
Before IPL 2026, especially Australian bowlers have become the center of discussion due to injuries. Mitchell Starc has not received fitness clearance, on the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins is suffering from a back problem. Cummins is going to be out of the first few matches, so in his absence Ishan Kishan will be seen captaining the SRH team.
Josh Hazlewood, who took 22 wickets for RCB in IPL 2025, is also a victim of injury. He has a hamstring problem and may miss the first few matches of Royal Challengers. Before this, Nathan Ellis of Australia was out of the entire season. This time Ellis was going to play for Chennai Super Kings.
