On the 25th day of the ongoing war in the Middle East, Pakistan said that it is ready to host US-Iran talks. This statement from Pakistan has come at a time when many reports are claiming that representatives of Turkey, Egypt and Pakistan met White House envoy Steve Witkoff to end this war.
Pakistan ready to host talks
In an interview given to Al Jazeera, Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said, ‘If Iran and Israel wish, Islamabad is always ready to host talks. To maintain peace and stability in the region, emphasis should be laid on continuous dialogue and diplomacy. Trump has said not to attack Iran’s energy sites for the next 5 days. He claimed that talks between the two countries are moving in a positive direction and talks have been reached on about 15 issues, while Tehran rejected Trump’s claim.
Pakistan at the center of diplomatic channel: Report
Pakistan Army Chief CDF Asim Munir spoke to US President Trump on Sunday (23 March 2026). Pak PM Shahbaz Sharif spoke to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on phone a day later. After this, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar spoke to his Iranian and Turkish counterparts on separate phones. Israel’s Channel 12 quoted a senior Israeli official as saying that a contact process is underway for a meeting of senior Iranian and American officials in Islamabad later this week.
Iran rejected Trump’s claim
The US President also claimed that meaningful talks have taken place between America and Iran for a complete solution to the ongoing tension in West Asia. However, Iran rejected Trump’s claims and called them fake news. Iran said on social media, ‘There have been no talks with America. This is being done to influence the financial and oil markets by spreading fake news and to get out of the quagmire in which America and Israel are stuck.
