BCCI Central Contract, Rohit-Virat: A big and historic decision can soon be taken by the Board of Control for Cricket in India i.e. BCCI. This decision can cut the salary of star players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Actually, the Indian Board can eliminate the A+ category from its central contract. Some time ago, Pakistan Cricket Board also took a similar step and abolished the top category from its central contract.
According to sources of news agency ANI, news came out regarding the central contract. It was also told that along with the abolition of A+ category, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma can be kept in B category, which will be a big demotion for both the legends before the 2027 World Cup. Let us tell you that at present Rohit and Kohli are getting Rs 7 crore annually from BCCI under A+ category. Whereas players living in B category get an amount of Rs 3 crore. Therefore, there can be a difference of Rs 4 crore in the annual earnings of both.
Rohit-Virat can go to B category after a long time
At present, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are playing only one format, ODI, for Team India. Both the batsmen have retired from T20 International and Test cricket. Due to both of them playing only one format, their contracts can be reduced. If there is any change in the central contract of both, then it will be after almost a decade that Rohit-Virat will go to B category contract. However, it is worth noting that an official announcement is yet to be made.
List of players in the central contract released in April 2025
A+ Grade (Rs 7 crore)- Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja.
A Grade (Rs 5 crore)- Mohammed Siraj, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, Mohammed Shami and Rishabh Pant.
B Grade (Rs 3 crore)- Suryakumar Yadav, Akshar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shreyas Iyer.
C Grade (Rs 1 crore)- Varun Chakraborty, Sanju Samson, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Akash Deep, Sarfaraz Khan, Tilak Verma, Harshit Rana, Ravi Bishnoi, Ishan Kishan, Prasidh Krishna, Rinku Singh, Abhishek Sharma, Rajat Patidar, Mukesh Kumar, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Arshdeep Singh, Washington Sundar, Dhruv Jurel and Shivam Dubey.
