Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif claimed that Sanju Samson has been dropped from the T20 team. Kaif’s words seem to be proving true, because after the fourth match, he did not get a chance even in the fifth T20 (IND vs AUS 5th T20) match against Australia. Actually, in the third T20 match played in Melbourne, Samson was given a chance at number-3, but he was out after scoring only 2 runs. Since then, speculations were being made that Samson might be dropped from the T20 team.
Sanju Samson was performing very well as an opener, but after Shubman Gill’s return to the team, Samson’s batting order has changed repeatedly. As an opener, Samson also scored three centuries in T20.
Samson was opening the Bangladesh series last year. After that he scored 417 runs in 12 innings, during which he also scored 3 centuries with his bat. When he got a chance at number-3 against Oman in the Asia Cup, he played an inning of 56 runs. After that, his batting order was changed and he was sent to number five, after which his rhythm appeared to be deteriorating. Samson has not been in the Test and ODI team for a long time, so being out of the T20 team would be like the end of his career.

At the time of toss in the fifth T20 match played in Brisbane, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav said, “All the batsmen have to understand that this is not a 200-run pitch. Everything went well for us in the last match and winning a bilateral series is always a good experience. It also has to be kept in mind that you want to go with a good combination. This is a format where apart from the opening batsmen, all the players will have to show flexibility in the batting position.”
