Senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan and his son former MLA Mohammad Abdullah Azam have been found guilty in two PAN card cases by the Special MP/MLA Magistrate Court of Rampur. The court has given this decision today on Monday (17 November), which is an important turning point in this case registered in the year 2019. Charges of cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy have been proved against both of them. In the year 2019, BJP MLA Akash Saxena had filed a case in this matter.
Azam Khan and Abdullah were detained in the court after being found guilty. The court will announce the punishment in some time, BJP MLA Akash Saxena, the plaintiff in the case, was also present in the court. In the year 2019, on 6 December 2019, a case was registered in Civil Lines police station of Rampur. BJP MLA Akash Saxena had alleged that Abdullah Azam had made two PAN cards on the basis of two different dates of birth.
The BJP MLA alleges that the PAN card was made on the basis of false and forged documents and it was used in bank accounts, income tax and elections. It is alleged that in one PAN card the date of birth is 1st January 1993, while in the other the date of birth is 30th September 1990. The police completed the investigation of the FIR and filed the charge sheet against Abdullah in the court.
Azam Khan was released on bail from Sitapur jail on 23 September.
After completion of arguments from both the prosecution and defense side, on November 7, the court had set November 17 as the date for decision on the files. Azam Khan was released on bail from Sitapur jail on 23 September and is currently out but now he may have to go to jail once again.
