The United Nations Security Council has supported US President Donald Trump’s peace plan for Gaza. There is also a proposal in this plan to send international troops to Gaza. 13 countries supported the vote on Monday (November 17), including Britain, France and Somalia. However, no one opposed, while Russia and China did not vote.
The objective of this plan is to implement a ceasefire in Gaza, rebuild the city and strengthen the administration there. This will be implemented through the Board of Peace. This board will guide the reconstruction and economic stability of Gaza.
America will become a medium of dialogue between Gaza and Israel
The plan will also include an international force, which will work to eliminate weapons and destroy military structures in Gaza. Its objective is to make Gaza safe and peaceful. The document says that if the Palestinian administration completes the reform program and Gaza is redeveloped, it will be easier for Palestine to create its own state. At the same time, America will also establish dialogue between Gaza and Israel, so that people on both sides can live in peace and prosperity.
Hamas opposed the proposal
Hamas has opposed this proposal. He says that this plan does not fulfill the rights and demands of the Palestinians. Hamas says that giving the international force the task of neutralizing armed groups in Gaza will not allow it to remain neutral and will side with Israel in the conflict.
Trump welcomed
President Trump called it a big success after the Security Council vote. He said this was an important step in world diplomacy and praised the countries that supported it. He called it one of the biggest approvals in the history of the United Nations.
Israel responded
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected the proposal to create a state of Palestine. He said that work will be done to eliminate Gaza’s military power.
