In such a situation, a reconsideration petition can be filed on the basis of his argument. In 2019, a constitutional bench of five judges of the Supreme Court ruled in the case of Ram temple. In that bench, Tatkali Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice S.A. Bobde, Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice Abdul Nazir were included.

The Supreme Court had said in its judgment that the Muslim side has failed to prove that they have had a uninterrupted ownership at the Babri Masjid place. With this, the Supreme Court ruled with a majority on the Ram temple case, after which the construction of the temple has now been completed.

However, after a dispute over his statement, former Chief Justice DY Chandrachud has also given cleanliness. He said that his statement has been presented incorrectly. He said that the decision on Ram temple was given on the basis of evidence and legal principles and not on the basis of faith.
