Ukraine and America are sharing the table on America’s peace proposal on Sunday. National Security Advisors including top diplomats of Ukraine and its western allies have participated in it. Discussion on peace proposal is going on among all of them. All of them have participated in Geneva, Switzerland. Ukraine’s aim is to reach a complete consensus on its terms for peace. This includes conditions such as withdrawal of Russian troops from the country and restoration of Ukraine’s border areas.
What did Ukrainian officials say about this meeting?
Ukrainian officials say the meeting is not about talks with Moscow. Rather, it is about gathering the international community and forming a consensus for a peace agreement. Andrey Yermak, chief of staff to Ukrainian President Zelensky, who is leading the Ukrainian delegation, has held a meeting in Geneva with the National Security Advisors of Britain, France and Germany.
Yermak expressed hope through social media, “A positive and meaningful dialogue is expected from this meeting. We will continue to work together to restore peace in Ukraine.”
There is news that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio may attend Geneva. This is also important because what is America’s stance on this negotiation.
Presented 28 point proposal
America has prepared a 28-point proposal to pass a peace resolution for the four-year-long war between Russia and Ukraine. While on one hand concern has increased in Ukraine and European countries, on the other hand many people believe that this proposal is more inclined towards Russia. On this proposal, the President of Ukraine himself has said that he may have to choose between standing up for sovereign rights or American support.
At the same time, US President Donald Trump has said on the peace plan that this is not his final proposal. But we have to move towards peace.
