Will Tim Cook Stop Making Iphones in India After Trump Threat Know What Experts Say

Apple iPhone: US President Donald Trump on Friday warned Tim Cook, CEO of iPhone company Apple, that if he leaves the US and produces iPhone in India or any other country, he will have to pay at least 25 percent tariffs. Here, after the tariff war between China and the United States, the company has made complete preparations to shift its manufacturing base from China to India. Now the question comes whether the cooks will bend in front of Trump’s threats?

India trusts this matter

Quoting some sources, CNN-News18 has informed in its report that the central government is optimistic that there will be no change in the decision of a big tech company like Apple to create its manufacturing unit in India. In this, the company will give more attention to its profit instead of any political pressure. There are many advantages of making iPhones in India such as low cost, encouragement from the government, strengthening of supply chain, etc., the company will give more priority to these benefits.

There is so much iPhone production in India

A government official told the news channel that he is sure that Apple would crush the profit despite Trump’s pressure. At present, Apple does not make smartphones in America. Most iPhones are made in China, while in India there are now about 15 percent of Apple’s total production, which is about 40 million units annually. In the financial year ended on March 31, Apple assembled more than 60 % iPhone in India, the estimated production value of $ 22 billion.

What is the disadvantage of iPhone in America?

Market experts also say that if the iPhones made in India start being made in the US, then its price will increase from $ 1,500 to 3,500 dollars. That is, people in America will have to pay double money for iPhone.

CNN’s data analyst Harry Anton also says that if Trump thinks that the company will start making iPhones in America by just putting tariffs, then he is living in confusion. If a tariff is also imposed on the iPhone coming to America from outside, then the company will either bear that cost itself or put its burden directly on the consumers. Anyway, Cook has already told that due to harsh labor law, decrease in tooling engineers, lack of supply chains, making iPhone is not a profitable deal here.
