Virat Kohli World Cup 2027: Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have now retired from T20 and Test formats. Both these veteran players will now be seen playing only in ODI matches. Now the question has started to arise whether Virat and Rohit will soon say goodbye to ODI format? Team India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir was recently asked whether Virat and Rohit would play the World Cup of 2027? With what Gambhir said, everything has been cleared on the ODI retirement of both the players.

In the interview given to News18, Gautam Gambhir was asked the question of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma playing in the 2027 World Cup. Gambhir replied, saying, “We have to play T20 World Cup right now, which is a big tournament itself. This World Cup is going to be in India in February-March. So after England Tour, our entire focus will be on T20 World Cup.”

Will Virat and Rohit play the World Cup of 2027?

On the question of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli playing 2027 World Cup, Gautam Gambhir said, “After the T20 World Cup, the 2027 World Cup (November-December) is almost two and a half years away from now. I have said one thing before, if you do well, the age remains just a number.”

It has also become clear from this statement of Gambhir that if Virat and Rohit continue to do well in ODI, then there will be no pressure of retirement on them. However, there is no such official confirmation. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli last played a ODI in the Champions Trophy 2025. On retirement, Gautam Gambhir also said that if any player retires, it is his personal decision. No coach, selector can pressurize it.
