Women’s World Cup 2025: The biggest match of ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 i.e. India vs Australia semi-final is now just a few hours away. Before this exciting match, the weather has increased the heartbeats of the fans. This match to be played at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on October 30 may be affected by rain. According to Accuweather, there is a possibility of 65% rain in Navi Mumbai on this day.
On October 26, the India-Bangladesh match at the same ground had to be canceled due to rain, and now the concern regarding the semi-finals has also increased. The match is to start at 3 pm, at this time there is a possibility of heavy rain. In such a situation, the question is arising that if rain disrupts the match, then who will reach the final?
ICC has kept reserve day
In view of the possibility of rain, ICC has kept October 31 as a reserve day for this match. That is, if the match is not completed on Thursday, then on Friday the play will start from where the match was stopped. According to the rules, any knockout match will be considered “live” only when the toss takes place. If play of at least 20-20 overs is not possible in both the innings, then only the match will go to the reserve day.
But the problem is that even on October 31, there is a 90 percent chance of rain in Navi Mumbai. In such a situation, the big question in the minds of the fans is that if the match cannot be held on both the days, then who will reach the final?
Who will reach the final if the match is cancelled?
If the match is not held even on the reserve day, then the Australian team will qualify for the final. Actually, according to ICC rules, if the match is canceled due to rain in the semi-finals and there is no result, then the team with better league ranking will go to the final.
Australia had won 6 out of 7 matches in the league stage and one match against Sri Lanka was lost due to rain. She was at first position in the marks table. Whereas Harmanpreet Kaur’s Indian team won 3 matches, lost 3 and one match remained inconclusive in the league, due to which the team was in fourth place.
Same rule in the second semi-final also
The same rule will be applicable for the first semi-final between South Africa and England. If that match is also canceled due to rain, then the England team will go to the final, because it was above South Africa in the league table.
