India defeated South Africa by 17 runs in the first ODI match played on 30 November. Now the second ODI will be played in Raipur on 3rd December, by winning which Team India would like to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. In the first match, Virat Kohli played a brilliant century of 135 runs, while Kuldeep Yadav did wonders in bowling by taking 4 wickets. But despite the victory, some flaws were visible in the combination of the Indian team. Know which mistakes Team India will have to correct in the second ODI.
1. Only Rohit-Virat-Rahul scoring runs will not work
In the first ODI, Virat Kohli scored a century of 135 runs, on the other hand, KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma scored half-centuries. In the first ODI, 10 players of the Indian team came to bat and the team was able to reach the score of 349. Of these, 252 runs belonged to Virat-Rohit and Rahul only. Rahul scored 60 runs and Rohit Sharma scored 57 runs. Whereas the remaining batsmen could contribute only 74 runs to the scoreboard. Other Indian batsmen will also need to perform better in the second ODI.
2. Wrong decisions on batting order in ODI after Test
The Test record of the Indian team in the last one year has been very bad, one of the main reasons for which is the constant change in the batting order of the players. Something similar happened in the first ODI match too, where all-rounder Washington Sundar was sent into bat before KL Rahul. This strategy was a complete flop, because Sundar was out after scoring only 13 runs. When Sundar came to bat, there were more than 23 overs left in the Indian innings, but looking at Sundar’s batting, it seemed as if he wanted to score boundaries from the very beginning. Sundar was sent up to handle the innings, but he was also out while playing aerial shots.
3. Better bowling in death overs
The Indian team will have to bowl better in the death overs. In the first ODI match, Corbin Bosch single-handedly dominated the inexperienced Indian bowling attack. Especially Harshit Rana will have to improve his death over bowling skills. South Africa had to score 61 runs in the last 7 overs to win. On one side, Arshdeep Singh was putting brakes on Africa’s run rate, on the other end, Harshit Rana gave away 22 runs in his last 2 overs.
