What is a rare disease?
Rare diseases are those that affect a very small number of people in the general population. No sure cure has been found for many of these diseases till date. RPI deficiency
It is considered the rarest disease in the world. This disease is caused by the deficiency of an important enzyme present in the body, which can cause muscle stiffness, seizures and damage to the white part of the brain. Till now only one case of this disease has been reported, which was identified in the year 1984.
field’s disease
This is a neuromuscular disease, of which only two cases have been reported so far, that too in twin sisters. In this disease the muscles gradually start becoming weak. Medical experts are still doing research on this.
Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome
In this disease, premature aging occurs in children. Even children of just 2 years old start looking like elders. Wrinkled skin, bulging eyes and hair fall are its main symptoms. This disease is very rare and there is no cure for it till now.
methemoglobinemia
In this disease the color of blood appears blue. Due to increase in the amount of a particular type of hemoglobin in the body, the skin, lips and nails turn blue.
aquagenic urticaria
Allergy to food items is common, but allergy to water is very rare. In this disease, itching and red rashes appear on the skin as soon as it comes in contact with water. Such people can also be allergic to sweat, rain and snow.
foreign accent syndrome
In this disease, the person suddenly starts speaking his normal language in a different accent. This problem often occurs after brain injury, due to which the speaking process gets affected.
stone man disease
In this very rare disease, muscles gradually turn into bones. With time a person’s body becomes stiff. However, the muscles of the heart, tongue and eyes are not affected by it.
