The International Cricket Council (ICC) has declared Aidan Markram as Player of the Month for the month of June. He has received this honor by defeating his own team captain Tamba Bavuma and Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nisanka. All -round performance in the World Test Championship 2025 finals contributed significantly to the Player of the Month Award. Along with scoring 136 runs in the final match against Australia, he also took two important wickets.
Aidan Markram was dismissed for zero in the first innings of the final match, but in the second innings he scored 136 runs. He took one wicket each in both innings. South Africa won the WTC title by defeating Australia by 5 wickets in the final in the title clash thanks to his memorable innings. It was the first ICC Trophy won by South Africa in the last 27 years.
The wicket of Aidan Markram in bowling was very important when he got Steve Smith out of 66 in the first innings and made a comeback to the South African team. On receiving this honor, Markram said that it is an honor for him to get this award. He did not mention his performance and credited the entire team for the WTC final victory.
ICC Women Player of the Month became Heli Mathews
Aden Markram has received the Player of the Month Award in men. On the other hand, the Women’s Player of the Month Award has been received by Heli Mathews of West Indies. In June, Mathews took 104 runs in the series against South Africa in June as well as 4 wickets. Mathews said that she is very happy with her recent form and wants to get a lot for herself and her team in future.
