According to officials, this situation is news of relief as the water level was continuously above the danger mark for the last 5 days. During this time, flood -like situation was created in many allacks and thousands of people were displaced. Some people were also kept in shelters in view of security.

How much did the water level of Yamuna come down?

The water level of Yamuna was recorded at 205.33 meters at 9 pm on Sunday night, which is below the danger level. On 4 September, it reached this year’s highest level 207.48 meters. On September 2, the water level warning level crossed 204.50 meters and then also crossed the danger mark. As soon as the level of the river goes above 206 meters, the administration starts transporting people to safe places.

The lower areas around the river were badly affected due to the strong current. Water had penetrated inside people’s homes. For this reason, about 10,000 people have been displaced so far. Traffic on the old railway bridge has been stopped as it is the main center of monitoring. Tents have been installed for the displaced in Mayur Vihar and Delhi-Meerut Expressway areas.

Administration preparations

For the last few days, there is a continuous monitoring so that the situation remains under control. The old railway bridge is the main monitoring point of the river flow and possible floods. Relief camps and temporary houses have been set up for the affected families. Despite the fall in the water level, the administration is still cautious so that immediate action can be taken in the event of re -increase.
