
The doors of the world famous Yamunotri Dham were closed on the day of Bhai Dooj as per the Ascendant. Yesterday on 23rd October at 12:30 pm the doors closed for winter. Now after this the doors will be opened again next year on the day of Akshaya Tritiya.

Every year on the occasion of Bhai Dooj, the doors of Yamunotri Dham are closed. This time also the door was closed as per tradition. After this, now Mother Yamuna can be seen in Khushimath.

After the closure of the doors of Yamunotri Dham, the idol of Mother Yamuna was brought to Khushimath in a palanquin. Special worship of the mother was done here. Now the Mother Goddess will be worshiped here for the next six months. It is believed that after the doors of Yamunotri Dham are closed, the Mother Goddess resides here for six months.

The tradition of closing Yamunotri Dham on Bhai Dooj and opening its doors on Akshaya Tritiya has been going on for years. This tradition not only makes it easier for the devotees to have darshan, but it also helps in performing religious rites.

Let us tell you that Yamunotri Dham is considered the abode of Mother Yamuna. It is said that visiting and bathing here destroys sins and brings purity in life.

After Yamunotri Dham among the Char Dhams, the doors of Kedarnath were also closed on 23 October 2025. Earlier, the doors of Gangotri Dham were closed on Annakoot festival. Now the doors of Badrinath will also be closed on 25 November 2025.
