These films were not only successful in entertaining the audience but were also successful in breaking many records. This year the list of films based on true events is quite long.
In the year 2025, Bollywood brought the power of truth on screen. In ‘Emergency’, Kangana showed the turmoil of Indira Gandhi’s era, while in ‘Chhawa’, Vicky Kaushal became Maratha brave Sambhaji. ‘Sky Force’ showed the bravery of air strikes, ‘The Diplomat’ wove the story of diplomatic courage. ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ told the untold story of Jallianwala. Starring John Abraham and Sadia Khateeb, this film is inspired by the true story of Uzma Ahmed, where an Indian woman is rescued by Indian diplomats after a forced marriage in Pakistan. Directed by Shivam Nair, this political thriller brilliantly presents the story on screen with diplomacy and courage.
Kesari Chapter 2
‘Kesari Chapter 2’, the untold story of Jallianwala Bagh, was released on 18 April. In the film, Akshay Kumar played the role of C. Shankaran Nair, who fought in the court against the British Empire after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. This film shows the untold story of the massacre of 1919 and the fight for justice.

Phule, based on the life of 19th century social reformer Jyotirao Phule and his wife Savitribai Phule, was released in theaters on April 25. In this film directed by Anant Mahadevan, Pratik Gandhi has played the role of Jyotirao and Patralekha has played the role of Savitribai. The couple fights on issues like caste discrimination, women’s education and widow remarriage. The story has been shown from the opening of India’s first girls’ school in the year 1848 to the social revolution. Hari Har Veera Mallu
Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Hari Hara Veera Mallu’ released on July 24. The name of Farhan Akhtar’s ‘120 Bahadur’ is also included in the list of films based on a true incident. The film released on 21 November was successful. In the film, Farhan Akhtar played the role of Major Shaitan Singh, who was martyred while showing bravery in the Battle of Rezang La in the 1962 India-China war.
