These 2 big changes were made in Aadhar card this year
1. Increase in fees for updating Aadhaar card – A big change has been seen regarding the update fee of Aadhar card in the year 2025. The services which were earlier available at low cost, will now have to be paid more for them. Earlier one had to pay Rs 100 for updating biometrics in Aadhaar card. Now this fee has been increased to Rs 125. Biometric updates include fingerprint, eye scanning (Iris) and photo update. This change will especially affect those people who need to update their fingerprints or photos due to aging or technical reasons. Apart from this, the fee for demographic update has also increased. Earlier one had to pay Rs 50 for updating name, address, mobile number or other information. Now a fee of Rs 75 has been fixed for this. This includes services like name correction, address change, updating mobile number. UIDAI says that this increase in fees has been done to improve the system and improve the quality of services.
2. UIDAI launches new super secure Aadhaar app – The second and biggest change of the year 2025 is the new Aadhaar app, UIDAI has launched a modern and secure Aadhaar app this year, which is proving to be very useful for the people. In this app, the digital version of Aadhaar card can be stored securely. Now you will not need to carry physical Aadhar card everywhere. Advanced security features have been provided in the app, due to which your data remains completely safe. The facility of instant Aadhaar verification is available through QR code. With the help of this app, the possibility of identity theft and fraud will be reduced to a great extent.
Facility to update mobile number sitting at home
Another big facility has been provided through this new Aadhaar app. Now you can update the mobile number linked to Aadhaar sitting at home. There is no need to go to Aadhaar Seva Center for this. Mobile number can be updated through Aadhaar app. This will save both time and money. UIDAI has also said that in the coming time, facilities like address update, name update and email ID update will also be started on this app.
