The Uttar Pradesh government has dismissed four officers and ordered a permanent cut in the pension of three retired officers after corruption charges were proved in separate cases dating back more than a decade.

According to official sources of the Social Welfare Department, this action has been taken under the policy of zero tolerance towards corruption of the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath government. According to a statement issued here, instructions have also been given to register an FIR against the accused officials and recover the embezzled government funds from them.

According to this statement, the dismissed officers include former District Social Welfare Officer Meena Srivastava (Shravasti), Karunesh Tripathi (Mathura), Sanjay Kumar Beas (Hapur) and Rajesh Kumar (Shahjahanpur).

Embezzlement of scholarship amount and manipulation of bank accounts

According to the statement, Srivastava was found guilty of manipulation of beneficiaries’ data and embezzlement of scholarship amount, while Tripathi and Beas were found guilty of transferring scholarship amount worth crores of rupees to unrecognized private institutions. Kumar allegedly diverted the pension amount to ineligible persons by manipulating the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.

Loss worth crores of rupees will also be recovered

According to the statement, there will be a permanent cut of 10 to 50 percent in the pension of retired officers Shri Bhagwan (Auraiya), Vinod Shankar Tiwari (Mathura) and Uma Shankar Sharma (Mathura). Besides, action will also be taken to recover losses worth crores of rupees from them. State Minister of State for Social Welfare Aseem Arun said, “Strict action against corruption will continue under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.” More pending cases will be reopened soon and reports will be filed if necessary.
