Shama Parveen Ansari, arrested from Bengaluru on behalf of the Gujarat Police’s Anti -Terrorism Squad (ATS), had appealed to Pakistani Army Chief General Asim Munir to attack India during Operation Sindoor.
Ansari was arrested on July 29 from his residence for promoting the banned terrorist organization ‘Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent’ (AQIS) through social media. The Gujarat ATS said on Wednesday (6 August 2025) that Ansari used to operate two Facebook pages and an Instagram handle with 10,000 followers to share stimulants, jihadi and anti -India content of Ansari AQIS and some other radical campaigners.
Appeal to attack from Asim Munir
According to a press release issued by the ATS, two days after India started the operation vermilion against Pakistan and its occupied Kashmir (POK), Ansari uploaded a post on his Facebook account on July 9, in which it was appealed to General Munir to take advantage of the golden opportunity to attack India. In a Facebook post with Munir’s picture, Ansari said, “You have a golden opportunity to adopt the Khilafat Yojana for the promotion of Islam, integrate Muslim land and proceed to eliminate Hindutva and Jews.”
Video shared on Instagram account
Ansari has shared a video on his Instagram account, in which a religious leader can be heard criticizing the Indian Muslims for supporting the army and condemning the Pahalgam terror attack. According to the press release, in another video clip shared by Ansari, Imam Abdul Aziz of Lal Masjid in Lahore can be heard making inflammatory statements about establishing a Khilafat System in India through armed revolution against the government. The ATS reported that the third video shows the AQIS leader talking about ‘Gajwa-e-Hind’ and making inflammatory calls to incite violence against the Indian state, targeting members of Hindu community and democratic rule especially.
ATS arrested many states
According to ATS, Ansari was associated with one of the four persons who were arrested two weeks ago for allegedly sharing inflammatory material through their Instagram account. A case has been registered against all the five accused under different sections of the illegal activities (prevention) Act. Officials had said that these four people, including two people from Gujarat, were arrested from different places under the campaign conducted in different states.
