When Esha Deol came to know about Dharmendra’s first marriage
In Hema Malini’s biography Hema Malini: Beyond the Dream Girl, Esha Deol had told how Esha Deol came to know about her father Dharmendra’s first marriage. He had said, ‘In school the children asked me that you have two mothers? I got angry after hearing this. And I said what nonsense. I have only one mother. But as soon as I reached home, I told my mother what my friends told me. I think that’s when my mother decided to tell me the truth.
Isha further said, ‘Imagine, we were in 4th class. We didn’t know anything about anything. Nowadays children are very smart. So at that time I understood that my mother had married a man who was already married and also had a family. However, I never felt bad. Even today I don’t think there was anything wrong in it. And I want to give credit to my parents that they never made me feel uncomfortable.
Isha also told, ‘When I was young, when I used to go to my friends’ house, I used to see both their parents together. So I understood that father’s passing is also normal. But somehow we grew up in such a way that all these things did not matter.
