Delhi government is going to launch Atal Canteen Yojana to strengthen the system of cheap and good food in the capital. According to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, nutritious and hearty food will be provided to the people in the canteen for just Rs 5. The objective of the government in starting this canteen is that low-income laborers and rickshaw pullers, working people and the needy class can get good quality food at low prices during the day’s work. In such a situation, let us tell you today from which day Atal Canteen is going to start in Delhi.

Atal canteen will start from this day

Regarding Atal Canteen, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that Atal Canteen Scheme will be started in the capital from December 25, the birthday of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Under this scheme, a full meal will be provided to the needy people for just Rs 5. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday inspected the construction site of Atal Canteen being built in Haiderpur area and also reviewed the preparations.

Canteen will start at 100 places in the first phase

In the first phase of this scheme, Delhi government will start Atal canteens simultaneously at 100 places in Delhi. Canteen work has already started in many assemblies like Shalimar Bagh, Rajendra Nagar, Rohini, Patel Nagar, Badarpur and Karawal Nagar. At every canteen, food will be available twice in the morning and evening and 500 plates will be available every time. According to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the aim of the Delhi government is that no person should sleep hungry in Delhi.

What will be available in the food of Atal Canteen?

According to Delhi Government, the food plates available in Atal Canteen will be prepared keeping nutrition in mind. This will include basic but nutrition rich items like pulses, rice, vegetables and roti. Apart from this, strict monitoring will also be done regarding cleanliness and quality, so that people can eat safe and fresh food. It is being told that a large number of daily wage earners in Delhi will be able to benefit from this scheme. This canteen is being considered a big relief especially for laborers, sanitation workers, rickshaw pullers, organized sector employees and people of low income group.

It is also believed that by providing food at low prices, people of low income group will be able to save some money in their daily expenses. Apart from this, to maintain the quality of food in Atal Canteen, there will be regular sample testing from FSSAI and NABL recognized labs. Modern equipment will be used in the kitchen, LPG based cooking will be done, industrial tap water will be used and arrangements for cold storage will also be made. At the same time, it will also be mandatory for all agencies associated with Atal Canteen to submit food safety license, health certificates of employees and monthly reports.
