Every year, lakhs of students across the country, after passing the 12th examination, start looking for colleges and universities to decide the direction of their future. Some want to become an engineer, some a doctor, some want to move ahead in the field of arts, commerce or management. At such a time, choosing the right college or university is the biggest and most important decision. Regarding this important decision, the Central Board of Secondary Education i.e. CBSE has issued an important warning for the students and their parents.

CBSE has said in clear words that before taking admission in any college or university, you must check its affiliation. The board says that there are many such fake and unrecognized institutions active in the country, which give admission to the students by giving them big dreams and later their degree is of no use. In such a situation, time, hard work and money of the students get wasted.

The board said that every year many students unknowingly fall into the trap of fake universities. These institutions attract students by luring them with attractive advertisements, low fees and quick degrees. When students complete their studies from there, they come to know that their degree is neither valid for government job nor accepted for further studies in any good institute. In view of this danger, CBSE has issued this advisory in time.

What instructions were given?

CBSE has instructed all schools to make their students and their parents aware about this. Especially this information should be given to the students of class 10th and 12th, so that they can take the right decision for further studies. The board has said that schools should post this information on their notice boards, share it through the school website and circulars and also discuss this topic openly during parent-teacher meetings.

UGC is alert

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has also been continuously alerting students about fake universities. UGC releases the list of such fake and unrecognized institutions every year on its official website. This list contains the names of all those institutions which claim to give degrees without permission. UGC clearly says that the degrees awarded from these institutions are completely invalid.
