The police have arrested YouTuber and travel blogger Jyoti Malhotra from Hisar on charges of espionage for Pakistan. On the same matter, the Odisha police has started investigating the alleged relationship between YouTuber and Jyoti Malhotra, who lives in Puri.
Puri Superintendent of Police (SP) Vineet Aggarwal said that the police have received information that Jyoti Malhotra, a resident of Hisar, Haryana, who operated a YouTube channel called ‘Travel with JO’, contacted a woman YouTuber when Puri came in September 2024. He told that the woman of Puri had recently visited Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan.
‘The purpose of Malhotra’s Puri Yatra is being investigated’
Asked if the woman of Puri shared intelligence with Malhotra, Aggarwal said that the Haryana Police is investigating the case and we are providing them necessary assistance. He further said that the purpose of Malhotra’s Puri Yatra is also being investigated and trying to find out where he stayed, who he contacted and there were no suspicious activities.
‘This is a matter of security of the country, so there should be investigation’
Puri’s woman YouTuber’s father said that the police had questioned her daughter on Saturday and sought some information. A police team reached the woman’s residence in Puri to investigate the case. The father of the woman YouTuber, who came under suspicion, said that my daughter came in contact with Jyoti Malhotra because both are YouTubers. Malhotra Puri came when friendship between them increased. Since it is a matter of security of the country, there should be a proper investigation. We will cooperate with the police.
‘If an investigative agency wants to interrogate me, I will cooperate full’
Puri’s woman YouTuber wrote on social media, “Jyoti was only a friend of mine and I came in contact with you through YouTube. I did not know anything about the allegations against him. If I had known that the enemy is spying for Pakistan, I would not come in contact with her. “She wrote on Instagram,” If any investigating agency wants to inquire with me, I will cooperate. The nation is paramount Jai Hind. ”
Jyoti Malhotra has 3.77 lakh subscribers and 1.33 lakh followers on YouTube channel and Instagram account respectively. She was allegedly in touch with a Pakistani employee working in the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi. The said officer of the Pakistani High Commission was expelled by India on 13 May due to his alleged involvement in espionage.
