Gold Smuggling: Recently, DRI has exposed a gold smuggling gang at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. There were 24 women in this gang who were caught smuggling gold worth about Rs 38 crore. All these women smugglers are said to be from Kenya. The Directorate had received information about this, after which immediate action was taken and these women smugglers were detained.
What was confiscated?
Based on secret information, DRI took action and arrested these women smugglers. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence busted this gang by conducting Operation Dhahabu Blitz. In this action, 29.37 kg gold worth Rs 37.74 crore has been seized from the gang. In which 25.10 kg gold bars and 4.27 kg gold jewelery have been recovered. Regarding this, the Finance Ministry issued a statement on Thursday saying that 24 women smugglers have also been detained in this operation.
Where was the gold hidden?
Sources have said that these women had received extensive training. He hid the smuggled gold inside shoes, clothes and in specially made pouches on his body. This shows that they were completely trained. DRI officer has also told about this.
A DRI official told PTI that, ‘The women were given training to hide the gold and avoid investigation, which shows that a well-planned gang was using such people to dodge the airport security system. These women will be produced in the court, while further investigation is underway to nab the gang leaders.

Let us tell you that this action was taken on the basis of secret information, after which the investigation is still going on. The Directorate believes that this gang is not limited to just this, but it is a big network. It is necessary to expose this as soon as possible. In such a situation, DRI is taking this investigation forward and is busy searching for other people associated with the gang. At the same time, the search for those who breached the security of the airport is also going on.
