8th Pay Commission: Since the approval of the formation of the 8th Pay Commission, the central employees are keeping an eye on their salary increase. However, at present various types of meetings are going on regarding this. At present no decision has been taken regarding this. Meanwhile, people are also talking about the old pay scale and salary increase. So let us tell you which pay commission had the lowest salary hike before this.

Lowest salary increase in this pay commission
Till now seven pay commissions have been implemented, through which there has been a significant increase in the salary of government employees. The work of streamlining salaries was done with the first and second pay commissions. The actual salary increase began from the third. From the first to the seventh, the salary structure of government employees was changed according to the continuously increasing inflation. The highest salary hike in percentage terms was during the Sixth Pay Commission. So the lowest salary increase was in the 7th Pay Commission.

Although the fitment factor of the 7th Pay Commission was 2.57, the DA already available in it was merged into the new basic pay. Therefore, the actual salary increase of the employees is considered to be only about 14.3% on an average, which was the lowest compared to the previous pay commissions. But still the minimum salary in this pay scale had increased from Rs 7000 to Rs 18000.

What was the salary increase in the last pay commissions?
The first Pay Commission was formed in the year 1947, which was implemented in 1949. In this, the salary structure of government employees was arranged for the first time. So after this, the second pay commission was formed in 1957 which was implemented in the year 1959. In this, the salary was fixed on the basis of the post and responsibilities of the employees. After this, the Third Pay Commission was formed in the year 1970 which was implemented in 1973. In this, dearness allowance was made an important part of the salary increase. After this, the real salary increase started from the fourth, which is as follows:

  • There was about 27.6% salary increase of employees in the fourth pay commission.
  • There was about 31% salary increase of employees in the fifth pay commission.
  • There was about 54% salary increase of employees in the Sixth Pay Commission.
  • So in the seventh pay commission, there was about 14.3% salary increase of the employees.

There are expectations from the eighth pay commission
Let us tell you that after the Central Government approved the formation of the Eighth Pay Commission, now the employees have very high expectations from this Pay Commission. Employee organizations are continuously presenting their demands in this regard before the Commission. However, the final decision is yet to come, which the Commission will present after some time. Now it will be interesting to see whether the government accepts the demands of the employees or the employees may have to face disappointment.
