The film industry is in shock due to the demise of veteran actor Satish Shah. Famous for his excellent comic timing and memorable characters, Satish Shah’s career lasted for almost 50 years. He once told that he had refused to play the role of a spitting professor in the film ‘Main Hoon Na’ because he found the role “disgusting”. But later Shahrukh Khan and Farah Khan convinced him to do this role.
Shahrukh celebrated Satish like this
While talking to Bollywood Bubble, Satish Shah had said, “I thought, what a disgusting role this is! I wanted to play the role of the principal, which was done by Boman Irani. But Shahrukh told me, ‘Satish bhai, you have done many such roles and anyone can do it. But only you can do this role, we cannot think of anyone else in it.'”
Satish Shah further said, “Both Shahrukh and Farah Khan together put me on the gram tree. That’s how I decided to do that role, but it was not at all easy to do.”
Satish Shah- It was not easy at all
Satish Shah told, “It was not at all easy. I used to keep some water in my mouth and speak certain words in such a way that the water came out like splashes while speaking. He further said that doing the scene of spitting on the superstar’s face was difficult in itself. But Shahrukh Khan made it even more difficult because every time I did it, he would laugh. I used to do the scene very hard, but Shahrukh would laugh and we had to do retakes.
Had to take eight retakes
Satish recalled, “Once we had to take 8 retakes. I got angry and said, ‘After this I will not do this scene.’ Everyone on the set was laughing so hard that they fell off their chairs. Then I gave the eighth shot, and Shahrukh laughed again, finally the insert shot of Zayed had to be used in that scene.
