Actually Nitish had contested the 1985 Bihar Assembly elections. Before this election, he had taken Rs 20 thousand from his wife Manju. The matter was that for Nitish this election had become a question of being successful or leaving everything. He had promised his wife before the elections that if he lost, he would leave politics.
Why did Nitish take money from his wife?
Senior journalist and author Sankarshan Thakur has written the book (Single Man, The Life and Times of Nitish Kumar of Bihar) Many things have been mentioned about Nitish. He told in the book, Nitish had promised that if he lost the elections, he would leave politics and start some traditional work. After this promise of Nitish, his wife gave 20 thousand rupees for the election campaign. This amount was almost equal to the amount which Nitish had opposed.
Why did you have to resort to goons?
It is mentioned in the book that during this election, the men working for Nitish Kumar had caught some goons and assigned them the job of guarding the booths. This was an election with impunity, in which everything was going on.
Let us tell you that this time Bihar Assembly elections will be completed in two phases. The first phase will be held on 6 November. The second phase will take place on November 11. After this the result will be declared on 14th November.
