Issuing an official statement, the BCCI said, “Shreyas Iyer suffered a serious abdominal injury during the third ODI against Australia on October 25, which led to injury to his spleen and internal bleeding. The injury was immediately identified and the bleeding was immediately stopped. His condition is now stable and he is kept under observation.”
BCCI said that today Iyer was scanned again and improvement has been seen. The board said, “A repeat scan on Tuesday, October 28, showed significant improvement and Shreyas is now recovering. The BCCI medical team, in consultation with experts in Sydney and India, will monitor his progress.”
