Pakistani wicketkeeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan has refused to sign the central contract. According to media reports, Rizwan is the only player among the 30 players who has not signed the contract yet. It is being told that Rizwan did this when some personal demands were not fulfilled.
According to Pakistani media agency ‘A Sports’, there is very little possibility that PCB will reconsider Rizwan’s demands. Rizwan was placed in ‘Category B’ in the new central contract list released by the Pakistan Cricket Board. There are a total of 10 players in this category, in which the name of Babar Azam is also included. It is a shocking matter that this time no player has been kept in ‘Category A’.
This report has come at a time when Rizwan was removed from the post of captain of the ODI team a few days ago. Shaheen Shah Afridi has now become the new ODI captain. Let us remind you that Rizwan became the new ODI captain by replacing Babar Azam in October 2024. His captaincy journey lasted for almost a year.
Under his captaincy, Pakistan did well in the beginning, because under Rizwan the Pakistan team defeated Australia and South Africa at their home. Under Rizwan’s captaincy, Pakistan lost all four matches in the T20 format, hence his captaincy journey in T20 did not last long.
Mohammad Rizwan’s captaincy once again came under question when Pakistan, despite being the host of the Champions Trophy 2025, could not qualify for the knockout stage. After that, New Zealand whitewashed the Pakistan team 3-0 and then had to face a 1-2 defeat at the hands of West Indies.
