The third season of Delhi Premier League (DPL) will start from July 31 at Arun Jaitley Stadium. At the official pre-season press conference before the tournament on Wednesday, the captains of all eight franchises came together and explained their goals.
This month-long T20 league organized by Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) will be played till August 30, in which some of the best cricketers of Delhi will participate. After the player auction held earlier this month, the franchises have finalized their teams and are excited to start their campaign.
Expressing happiness over getting this responsibility, the new captain of ‘Old Delhi 6’, Anuj Rawat said, “It is an honor to captain Old Delhi 6. We have created a balanced team with a good mix of experienced and young players. The atmosphere of the league is great and we are looking forward to playing in front of our home fans. Our aim is to play positive cricket and give our best performance in every match.”

‘South Delhi Superstars’ captain Ayush Badoni said that the players are motivated to make a strong start. He said, “The standard of cricket in the DPL has been excellent and every team looks strong this season. We have prepared well and are excited to take the field. Hopefully we will be able to entertain the fans and perform consistently throughout the tournament.”
‘East Delhi Riders’ captain Mayank Rawat said that his team is ready for the challenge. He said, “There is tremendous enthusiasm in the team. Every player is motivated and we are looking forward to playing against some of the best talent from Delhi. It is going to be a great tournament.”
Representing defending champions ‘West Delhi Lions’, vice-captain Ayush Doseja said, “Winning the title last season has boosted our confidence, but this is a new season with new challenges. Every team has strengthened their squad, so we know it will not be easy. Our focus is on playing good cricket and defending our championship.”
‘Outer Delhi Warriors’ captain Siddhant Sharma said, “The atmosphere in the team has been very good since the auction. Everyone is eager to contribute and we have worked hard in preparation. We are excited to start the season and hope to make our supporters proud.”
Central Delhi Kings captain Yash Dhull said, “DPL provides a great platform for Delhi cricketers to showcase their skills. We have built a strong team and our aim is to play fearless cricket while performing consistently throughout the tournament.”
North Delhi Strikers captain Sarthak Ranjan said that the league is progressing with every season. He said, “The level of competition is getting better every year, which makes it even more exciting. We are confident in our preparations and can’t wait to get started. Our focus is on playing disciplined and aggressive cricket.”
New Delhi Tigers captain Himmat Singh believes that fans can expect excellent cricket throughout the tournament. He said, “DPL has become one of the premier domestic T20 leagues in the country. All the teams are well balanced and the competition will be tough. We are looking forward to starting our campaign and giving the fans many opportunities to celebrate.”
