Political turmoil has intensified regarding Bihar assembly elections. Different surveys and experts’ opinions are coming out regarding the position of the parties in the elections. Meanwhile, senior journalist Vinod Agnihotri told in one of his interviews how the equation of Bihar elections can change with the presence of Jansuraj chief Prashant Kishore.
He said, ‘NDA is going to get the most benefit from the announcements made by Nitish Kumar in Bihar. If PK (Prashant Kishore) is going to harm NDA in this election, he will harm BJP more than JDU. The leadership of Grand Alliance and NDA has till now been in the hands of backward people. From 1990 to 2025, under Lalu Yadav’s rule, till date no upper caste leader has emerged in Bihar, on whom the upper caste community can show trust.
Prashant Kishor, part of the upper caste society
He said in an interview to ‘News Tak’, ‘However, Prashant Kishore has tried to become a leader of the upper caste people because he is a part of the upper caste community. Therefore, Prashant Kishor will be successful in getting the upper caste votes on his side and this is going to cause loss to BJP. Prashant Kishor has created such a support base, which will vote for him without thinking about the party’s victory or defeat. This is the support base which wants change in Bihar. Therefore, the vote received by Prashant Kishor can decide this election.
Why was the post of CM not announced by NDA?
Regarding NDA not announcing the CM candidate for Bihar, Vinod Agnihotri said, ‘BJP has been making Nitish Kumar the CM of Bihar for 20 consecutive years, so this time the party intends to nominate a BJP leader for the post of CM. Right now BJP is assessing who the people of Bihar want to see as the next CM.
He further said, ‘Since RJD nominated Tejashwi as the CM candidate, there is pressure on BJP to declare Nitish Kumar as the chief ministerial face. Although Chirag Paswan has replied to the opposition that the next CM of the state will be Nitish Kumar, but no big BJP leader, Prime Minister or Home Minister has made any such announcement.
Opposition can attract JDU voters
During the discussion, Vinod Agnihotri said, ‘The opposition is making the issue that even though the party is considering Nitish Kumar as the leader, there is no guarantee that Nitish Kumar will become the next Chief Minister after the elections. If the opposition conveys this message to Nitish Kumar’s supporters that Nitish Kumar will not be the next CM, then it may impact the vote bank of NDA and Nitish Kumar’s supporters may turn towards Grand Alliance or Jansuraj.
What did you say about the tension between NDA?
Regarding the tension between NDA, he said, ‘There is a lot of tension in NDA regarding the relationship between Chirag Paswan and Nitish Kumar and in the last elections, JDU’s strength had decreased because of Chirag Paswan, which neither Nitish Kumar has forgotten nor the party leaders have forgotten.’
He said, ‘This time Chirag Paswan is taking the name of Nitish Kumar again and again because he has an idea of Nitish Kumar’s support base and if this support base is not with Chirag Paswan then it is difficult to estimate how many seats he will get out of 28 seats.’
