Imagine if every morning you looked out your window and saw shining airplanes instead of cars? Where people go to the market by jet instead of scooter and the airport becomes their chaupal. Sounds like a dream doesn’t it? But this is not a film story, but the reality of that rich village, where every person has his own private jet. People here also drink tea at the airport, and fly in the sky for breakfast.
Where is such a rich village?
Cameron Air Park, located in El Dorado County, California, is one of the few villages in the world which is actually called an Air Village. People here travel not by road but by runway. This village was established in the year 1963, when America chose this place to settle its retired pilots.
Why do people have their own planes?
In fact, after the Second World War, there were thousands of pilots in America who had a passion for flying, but their duty was over. Then the government decided to convert some airfields into residential airparks, so that these pilots could continue their passion. Then Cameron Air Park was born. This is a village where it takes just a few steps to reach home after coming down from the sky.
Plane in front of every house, hangar instead of garage
There are a total of 124 houses here and there is an airplane parked outside almost every house. Most of the residents here are pilots, some retired, some active fliers. The interesting thing is that the roads here are so wide that small planes can land easily. Here, instead of cars, runways are visible and instead of parking, there are aircraft hangars.
Tea and snacks are served at the airport
People here fly their own jets to go to office or go out to visit other cities. What’s more, village community breakfasts or meetings are often held at the Airport CafĂ©, where people share stories of falling from the sky over morning coffee.
Why is Cameron Air Park so special?
This village is not only an example of richness but also a different lifestyle. The people here are called fly-in community. That is, those people who have made flying a part of their everyday life. There are strict restrictions on the movement of people from outside. Any outsider can come here only if he gets special permission.
