The post of Captain in the Indian Navy is very respectable and responsible. This post has the same status as Colonel in the Indian Army and Group Captain in the Air Force. A captain is the head of a warship or unit, who is in charge of dozens of officers and hundreds of sailors. It takes years of hard work, discipline and dedication to reach this rank.
Now let’s talk about salary. According to the 7th Pay Commission, Navy Captain gets a salary of Rs 37,400 to Rs 67,000 and a grade pay of Rs 8,700 under Pay Band 4. According to this, his basic salary is around Rs 87,000. Apart from this, they are given many types of allowances like House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, Sea Service Allowance, Hard Area Allowance and Uniform Maintenance Allowance. Including all these, the total in-hand salary of a captain reaches approximately Rs 1.5 to 2 lakh per month.
What is the fitment factor?
Now the biggest question is that how much will this salary increase after the 8th Pay Commission. In this, it is being said that the fitment factor will be increased by 2.47 times. That means the basic salary can increase by about two and a half times.

How much will the salary be?
If we assume that at present the basic salary of a captain is Rs 87,000, then according to the fitment factor of 2.47, the new basic salary will be around Rs 2,14,890 i.e. around Rs 2.15 lakh. This means that only the basic salary will increase by about Rs 1.3 lakh. When Dearness Allowance (DA), HRA and other allowances are added to it, the total salary can reach around Rs 3 lakh per month.
