There was a stir in a train in England on Saturday evening (November 1) when a person attacked several passengers with a knife on a train going towards London. According to eyewitnesses, there was “blood everywhere” on the train and many passengers hid in washrooms out of fear. This incident happened in a train going from Doncaster to London King’s Cross station.

British Transport Police said the train was stopped at Huntingdon station in Cambridgeshire and two suspects were arrested at the scene. According to the police, ten people have been injured, out of which the condition of nine is said to be serious.

Police said the attack has been declared a major accident and the Anti-Terrorism Unit is assisting in the investigation. Eyewitnesses said that after the train stopped, they saw a man with a large knife on the platform, who was later subdued by the police with a Taser.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the incident as horrific and said, “My thoughts are with all the victims and their families. I thank the police and emergency services for their swift response.”

Incidents of stabbing have increased continuously

In the last few years, incidents of stabbing have increased continuously in Britain. According to government figures, more than 50,000 knife crimes were recorded in England and Wales last year, almost double the number in 2013.

According to the Home Ministry, so far around 60,000 knives have been seized or people have voluntarily handed them over to the police. The government has set a target of halving knife crime in the next ten years. If caught carrying a knife in a public place, the punishment can be up to four years. However, in the last one year there has been an 18 percent decline in murders involving knives.
