More than a month has passed since the Indian team won the Asia Cup. But ACC and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is still sitting like a trophy. BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia had recently warned Naqvi that everything would be good if Team India gets the trophy within 2 days, otherwise he would raise this issue in the ICC meeting to be held on November 4. Since there has been no response from Naqvi, it seems he has ignored BCCI’s warning.
BCCI had warned
According to news agency PTI, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia had said, “Yes, we are disappointed that the Indian team has not been able to get the trophy even after a month of winning the tournament. We have moved forward on this matter, about 10 days ago we had written a letter to the ACC Chairman, but he is not ready to go back on his word. The trophy is still with him, but we hope that he will give the trophy in a day or two.” Saikia further said that if he does not get the trophy, he will raise this matter in the ICC meeting.
Final decision will come tomorrow!
ICC meeting is going to be held in Dubai tomorrow. BCCI representative can raise the issue of Asia Cup trophy in this meeting. It is possible that ICC may mediate on this decision and give a final decision tomorrow itself. Earlier, in the ACC meeting on September 30, Rajiv Shukla had scolded Mohsin Naqvi. BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla had said that Mohsin Naqvi does not have personal rights on the Asia Cup trophy, its rightful owner is Team India, hence the trophy should be given as soon as possible. Even after that Naqvi has not handed over the trophy to Team India.
According to media reports, selling of mobile gaming rights and the format of Under-19 World Cup can be the two main topics of discussion in the ICC meeting. Let us tell you that this meeting will be held from 4th to 7th November. Along with this, the issue of increasing the reach of cricket can also be raised in the meeting. It is also possible to discuss the issue of getting cricket a place in the South American and Pan American Games.
