Air India flight AI174, en route from San Francisco to Delhi on Sunday (November 2, 2025), had to make a precautionary landing in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia due to a suspected technical glitch midway. The flight crew suspected a possible technical problem during the flight, after which it was decided to land the plane at Ulaanbaatar Airport in Mongolia for safety reasons.

According to Air India, they are working with their partners to ensure the convenience of the passengers and efforts are being made to take everyone to their destination Delhi as soon as possible. Flight number AI174 via Kolkata landed safely in Ulaanbaatar and technical investigation is currently underway.

Air India official expressed regret

An Air India official said, ‘We regret the inconvenience caused to passengers due to this emergency situation. We are working closely with our partners to assist all passengers. At Air India, the safety of passengers and crew is paramount for us.

Crew suspects technical problem en route

The airline posted information on its social media handle ‘X’ and said, ‘On November 2, flight AI174 from San Francisco to Delhi via Kolkata landed as a precautionary measure in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, because the flight crew suspected a technical problem en route. The plane landed safely in Ulaanbaatar and necessary checks are underway.

The airline further wrote in the post, ‘We are working closely with our partners to assist all passengers and are also trying to get everyone to their destination as soon as possible. We regret the inconvenience caused to passengers due to this unexpected situation.
