An Indian youth from Odisha has been kidnapped in Sudan. According to reports, this young man was kidnapped by a militia named Rapid Support Forces (RSF). It is being told that before kidnapping the attackers asked the young man – “Do you know Shahrukh Khan?” He was caught soon after. Actually, a fierce war is going on in Sudan between RSF and Sudanese Armed Forces since 2023. So far, about 13 million people have left their homes due to violence in many areas including the capital Khartoum.

According to the report of NDTV, the name of the kidnapped youth is Adarsh ​​Behera, who is a resident of Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha. In a video, an RSF soldier is seen taking the name of RSF leader Mohammad Hamdan Dagalo. It is being told that 36-year-old Adarsh ​​Behera was kidnapped from Al-Fashir city, which is about 1000 kilometers from Khartoum. He is believed to have been taken to Nyala, the RSF stronghold in South Darfur.

Sudan’s Ambassador to India issued a statement

After this incident, Sudan’s Ambassador to India Mohammad Abdullah Ali Eltom has issued a statement. He said that Sudanese officials and the Foreign Ministry are jointly making efforts for the release of that Indian citizen.

The Ambassador said, “India and Sudan have long and strong relations. India has always stood by us. Be it in times of peace or war. During this crisis, India has sent us humanitarian aid, which includes medicines and food items. We are grateful to the Government of India for this support.”
