Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province of Pakistan was shaken by two consecutive bomb blasts on Saturday (June 20, 2026). A total of 7 people have lost their lives in two bomb blasts one after the other, while many people have also been seriously injured. These horrific bomb blasts were carried out on the roadside in Bannu district.
Two bomb blasts occurred at different times
According to the report of IANS, regarding these bomb blasts, local district police chief Yasir Afridi said that this bomb blast took place in two different vehicles parked on the roadside in Marka Bera, a semi-tribal hilly area of Wazir subdivision of Bannu district. The first blast occurred while a passenger van was passing, killing a total of five people and seriously injuring three others. After this, when the local people were taking the dead and injured to the ambulance, suddenly a bomb kept in another vehicle exploded. Two people died in this blast.
Police say that the bomb blast was carried out through remote control. This is a cowardly terrorist attack. This attack was carried out in Bannu district, located near the troubled North Waziristan area bordering Afghanistan.
District police and security agencies are investigating
At present, KP District Police and other security agencies have cordoned off the entire area and have started investigating the matter. Officials have expressed suspicion that many more bombs may have been fitted in the area, so it is being thoroughly investigated. However, at present no terrorist organization has claimed responsibility for these bomb blasts. Police have also said that the injured in the bomb blasts are being admitted to nearby hospitals.
Pakistani President expressed grief
Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has strongly condemned these IED bomb blasts in Bannu district of KP province. He expressed deep sorrow for those killed in the attack and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
