Muhammad Ali International Airport is the largest hub of UPS
Louisville’s Muhammad Ali International Airport is UPS’s largest global hub (Worldport), which is spread over approximately 5 million square feet. Here more than 12,000 employees process about 20 lakh parcels every day. For this reason, this accident has become a matter of great concern for UPS.
Police issued alert
The police has issued a shelter-in-place alert within a radius of 8 kilometers from the airport, that is, the local people have been appealed to stay in their homes. Apart from this, the road between Fern Valley and Grade Lane has been closed so that relief and investigation work is not hampered.
It is being told that this aircraft was of MD-11F model, which was originally manufactured by McDonnell Douglas company in 1991 and later its production was taken over by Boeing. This model is primarily used for cargo operations and is regularly used by companies like UPS, FedEx and Lufthansa Cargo.
