Bangladesh women’s cricket team’s fast bowler Jahanara Alam has made a sensational claim, she has accused team captain Nigar Sultana of assaulting the junior players of her team. He claimed that this also happened during the World Cup 2025. In the recently concluded World Cup, India became the champion for the first time by defeating South Africa, Bangladesh’s performance in this tournament under the captaincy of Nigar was disappointing.
Jahanara Alam, who is walking out of the Bangladesh team after the conclusion of the Women’s World Cup 2025, has accused team captain Nigar Sultana of assaulting the players and this is nothing new for her. Speaking to a Bangladeshi newspaper, 32-year-old Jahanara said, “She beats players and this is not a new thing. This happened during this World Cup too, junior players told me, ‘No, I will not do this again, I will get slapped again.’ I heard from some people, ‘Yesterday I was beaten.’ Even during the Dubai Tour, he (Nigar) called a junior player into the room and slapped him.”
Dropped from the team under conspiracy
Jahanara Alam claimed that he and most of the players were dropped from the team due to politics. He said, “Here only one or two players are given good facilities, sometimes only one player. The process of excluding senior players like me from the 2021 Post Covid practice camp started, then I was chosen as the captain of one of the Bangladeshi teams, the captains of the other two teams were Nigar Sultana and Sharmin Sultana. Since then, pressure had started building on the senior players.”
Bangladesh Cricket Board denied
Let us tell you that in 2025, BCB had given the reason for Jahanara Alam’s exclusion from the national team that he had mental problems. She also kept herself out of the central contract, she lives in Australia and is unlikely to return to the national team. Now in response to these serious allegations of Jahanara, the Board has issued a press release denying Jahanara’s allegations. He called it baseless and fabricated.
