Indian team management has started preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup. The youth are continuously getting opportunities, but Mohammad Siraj, one of the most effective fast bowlers of the team, is out of the ODI team. Former cricketer Aakash Chopra has sought clarity from the team management and chief selector Ajit Agarkar regarding Siraj’s absence in the ODI team.
Aakash Chopra says that Mohammad Siraj has been silently shown the way out of the team. He is already out of the T20 team and was dropped from the ODI team on the grounds that he is no more effective than the old ball.
Showed mirror to selectors
Showing a mirror to the selectors, Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel, “He was dropped from the ODI team on the grounds that he was not more effective with the old ball. He was out of T20 cricket, but played in the World Cup. But in the very first match of the World Cup, he had taken 3 wickets. He gave a player of the match performance that day and now he is not seen in the ODI team either.”
Mohammad Siraj last played an ODI match in the home series against New Zealand. After that he was ignored in Afghanistan and then England series also. Chopra expressed hope that Siraj should get a chance in the upcoming series.
Were also out of Champions Trophy
When the Indian squad was announced for the Champions Trophy 2025, Mohammed Siraj’s name was not included in the team. His ouster was indeed a shocking decision. It is unfortunate that Siraj was once the world No. 1 ODI bowler, but now it seems he is not included in the plans for the 2027 ODI World Cup.
