JNU Students Union President and other officials work to convey the voice of the students to the university administration. These representatives give suggestions on behalf of the students on issues like hostels, fees, security, and academic policies. Does JNU Students Union President get salary?
According to media reports, the administration does not give any kind of personal salary or monthly salary to the elected officials of the student union. The university earmarks a fixed fund for the functioning of the student union. This fund is used for students’ welfare, cultural programs, and activities related to the university. A fund of several lakh rupees is allocated to the student union every year. This money is not used by any one person but through the entire student union committee. The committee decides how much will be spent on which work and its account is submitted to the university. The pass is collected.
What facilities does the JNU Students Union President get?
According to reports, the student union president and other officials are given a separate office on the university campus from where they listen to the problems of the students and coordinate with the administration. Apart from this, they get the right to participate in administrative meetings, protocol recognition in major university events, and the opportunity to participate in policy discussions related to students. Student union representatives are also given facilities like staff support and official identity cards, so that they can act as a bridge between the students and the administration.
