After the start of voting for the first phase of Bihar Assembly elections, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday urged the voters of the state to vote in large numbers as this is a golden opportunity to teach a lesson to the opportunistic rulers who have betrayed the people. A total of 3.75 crore voters will decide the electoral fate of 1,314 candidates in the first phase of Bihar Assembly elections.

Kharge posted on ‘X’, ‘Voting for the first phase of assembly elections has started in Bihar, the birthplace of democracy. I appeal to the voters of Bihar to use their constitutional rights in maximum numbers and provide a new direction of change to the state after 20 years.
He said that we have to build such a Bihar where the future of the youth of the state is secure and they do not have to suffer the brunt of unemployment and migration. The Congress President said, ‘Every section of the society – Dalit, Mahadalit, tribal, backward, extremely backward, economically weak, minorities – should get equal rights and we should create a new definition of social justice so that Bihar’s contribution in the progress of the country increases.’
He emphasized, ‘Today, the aware people of Bihar have a golden opportunity to teach a lesson to the opportunistic rulers who have betrayed the public in the last 20 years by branding corruption, misgovernance and jungle raj as ‘development’. Don’t let this opportunity go. Kharge said, ‘I especially appeal to the youth who are voting for the first time, that they should not waste this opportunity and must exercise their franchise for change.
