Speaking on Pimpri-Chinchwad educational scam, he said that educational materials were purchased for schools in Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. According to the rules, it is necessary to issue a tender for purchases of more than Rs 3 lakh. But in this case, work worth about Rs 550 crore was given to a company named Jagdamba Textile at very high rates.
He told that the matter went to the High Court, where the court reprimanded. Then the matter reached the Supreme Court, where the Supreme Court fixed the rate for Jagadamb and directed to deliver the material at the same rate. The actual price was Rs 239 crore, but the Municipal Corporation purchased it at the rate of Rs 894 crore. That means there is a difference of about Rs 547 crore.
Sanjay Raut claimed that this is a scam of about Rs 550 crore. A senior minister of Maharashtra called and said that this work has to be given to this company and tender should not be floated. This is completely illegal and corruption. Rs 95 crore was delivered to the concerned minister on the same day. Devendra Fadnavis knows who that minister is. People of different ideologies should be included in it. If Uniform Civil Code is to be brought, then prominent leaders of both the Houses should be included in the committee. This cannot be a matter of any one party.”
He further said, “The demand for this law was first raised by Balasaheb Thackeray. People have been kept in the committee who will follow his instructions. Ranjana Desai has been deliberately given this responsibility. This seems somewhat mysterious and suspicious. If BJP brings politics into this issue, then we will have to look at it very seriously and cautiously.”
