Statement of Defense Ministry spokesperson based in Guwahati
According to Guwahati-based Defense Ministry spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Mahendra Rawat, a total of 25 different aircraft will participate in the flypast. In the first fly-past of the Air Force, which is going to be held for the first time in the North-East, the natural heritage and historical heroes of Assam have been given special priority.
How is the program going to be?
The first flight after the traditional flag formation will be of the indigenous fighter jet, LCA Tejas which will fly with the call-sign Lachit. Lachit-Barphukan was a general of medieval Assam (Ahom Kingdom), who defeated the Mughal army. Apache attack helicopters of the Air Force will fly in the call-sign of Rahino, the identity of Assam.
Which aircraft will fill the aircraft?
The Air Force’s newest aircraft, the C-295 (cargo military aircraft), will fly in the Manas formation, while the Mirage fighter jets will be seen in the Kaziranga formation. Rafale and Sukhoi fighter planes, which rescued Pakistan’s six in Operation Sindoor, will be in Hathi (Elephant) formation, while another Rafale, Mirage and LCA Tejas will fly in the sky of Brahmaputra river in Barak formation. During the flypast, several dignitaries including Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will be present.
Will fly past be organized in Guwahati?
This year, Air Force Day (8 October) was organized at Hindon Air Base near the capital Delhi, but the traditional fly past was not organized during that time. Instead of Hindon, this fly past is being organized in Guwahati. Air Force fighter planes and Suryakiran aerobatics team have started rehearsals for the main day in Guwahati. In the last few months, the activities of Pakistani Army have increased in Bangladesh.
Recently, Pakistan’s top military commander Sahir Shamshad Mirza (Chairman, Chief of Staff Committee) visited Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. During this time, the head of the interim government of Bangladesh, Mohammad Yunus, had presented a book (coffee table book) to Mirza, on the cover page of which the north-eastern states of India were shown on the map of Bangladesh. Pakistani Navy Chief Naved Ashraf is also on a visit to Bangladesh from Saturday (8 November 2025). Meanwhile, a warship of the Bangladesh Navy is going to visit Bangladesh for the first time since 1971.
